The administration at Cleveland State University did everything in its power to diminish the impact of GAP, but large crowds flocked to the exhibit nonetheless. Many went out of their way to stand and stare. The campus police handled the large crowds in a very professional manner. Even students who kept their distance got the message.
The faculty at Cleveland State will now have a much harder time misleading students concerning what abortion is and does. GAP greatly energized local pro-lifers. The "Marketplace of Ideas" in action. Passionate debate with Jewish students.
Students listen intently as we explain why abortion is genocide. The university was so desperate to cover our GAP display that they painted over the windows of the student union (in the background) just before we arrived. View of painted windows from inside student union, a fourteen year university staff veteran said she had never seen campus windows painted shut. A heavy police presence helped maintain order.
A senior university administrator published a letter comparing CBR to a hate group, but most of the many students who talked to us knew otherwise. The more vigorously the pro-aborts resist GAP, the more interested the press becomes and the more exposure the project receives. Making the baby real forces a debate and shifts its focus. Pro-aborts met their rhetorical match in Rev. Clenard Childress (third from left).
